Projects

History projections

June - December 2018

The inspiration for the action was the testimony of a witness from the USC Shoah Foundation Visual History Archive. The project was made possible thanks to the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. The project was divided into three stages: workshops with a historical walk, an expedition following the trail of Natan Halpern’s stories and film screenings in schools. The participants chose the places that should be included in the historical walk route. Together, we prepared glass tiles with objects that no longer exist, which Natan talked about, to symbolically move in time. We organized a walk with retro photography in cooperation with a PTTK guide as part of the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the uprising in the Białystok ghetto. At this stage, some participants ended their participation in the project. The rest went out with the filmmakers. The young people contacted the descendants of the family that helped Natan. The reportage was shown in several schools. Through these meetings, we wanted to encourage students and teachers to use oral history in their teaching and learning. In 2019,  the National Center for Culture to the Polish Project Exchange hosted the project.
